Associate Professor (or Senior Lecturer) in Exercise Physiology

·  Located at our Bendigo campus in our new, upcoming State of the Art building

·  $93,564 - $124,116 + 17% Superannuation offered, depending on experience

La Trobe University's Faculty of Health Sciences at Bendigo currently delivers courses in Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health, Dentistry, Oral Health, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Paramedics, Podiatry and Speech Pathology and offers units in Human Biosciences. The faculty is now looking to expand this range of programs by adding Exercise Physiology to its suite of offerings. This program is new to the University and is being offered only through the Bendigo campus initially. 

The position

In this role you will provide leadership in the development of the new Exercise Physiology curriculum, initiating the course accreditation process with Exercise and Sports Science Australia and the course material.  Preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars; you will also be supervising major Honours or postgraduate research projects. There will be significant involvement in research projects and professional activity and promotion of the new program to prospective students. There will be ongoing consultation with and support of exercise physiology students and affiliated staff teaching into the program across the LRHS campuses. This role also includes engagement in high level administrative functions and attendance at departmental or faculty meetings with a major role in planning or committee work.

The candidate

To succeed, you will have completed your bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology with eligibility to become a member of Exercise and Sports Science Australia. You will have demonstrated excellence in academic teaching skills relating to Exercise Physiology and a track record of research publications relevant to Exercise Physiology. With experience in supervising honours or higher degree by research students, you are committed to raising the profile of the new faculty. You will also provide evidence of management achievement including demonstrated leadership and the capacity for strategic planning. With your excellent communication skills you have the ability to establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

If at Level D, you will make original and innovative contributions to the advancement of scholarship, research and teaching in exercise physiology.

At Level C, you will have played a major role or provided leadership in scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession, discipline and/or community.
